what the heck did i do to po?

@ VT: Emotion and faith are the misguided logic in this scenario. To call either logical is simply irrational. They are something else entirely and are both a source of many of the most amazing things we have in life today such as art, games, booze and porn, but they are also the source of things like abuse, war and gossip, which do no one any good. Logic and truth do not vary from race to race or from religion to religion. They are very easily defined and we have an innate ability to sense when something is "wrong" but those who argue suppress that logic and convince themselves otherwise. You know all those times you doubt yourself even for a moment. That's your instincts telling you that you're wrong. People just don't like accepting that fact.
Mathematics is a truth, but it cannot be used universally with our limited knowledge of it. I cannot say what exactly defines truth as I don't believe humanity has figured that one out yet, though I do feel that mathematics and science for sure are a large part of it... even though both mathematical and scientific equations are proved wrong time and time again, which means we have not yet perfected the art of truth and logic... or at least that little aspect of it.
I studied a bit of philosophy and psychology as well, but I just day dream a lot and this shit is mostly common sense. Once you come to terms with the concept of giving yourself shit and being able to grasp the realization that you may in fact be and probably are wrong, things just get much more clearer. Instincts never lie. They may dull down, but they will never deceive you.
EDIT: Shit... replied to VT's post.
@ Bee: Wtf are Vulcans? Besides plural of the Roman god of fire and volcanoes? Emotions do make life "interesting", but that doesn't make them logical. The only reason they are so damn interesting is because of how chaotic they are.
@ Streen: Ah. A Star Trek reference. Yeah... no clue.
@ Bee #2: I assume these things are androids of some sort, correct?! In either case, they would be perfectly logical and efficient, much like any robot, but without emotion they'd also be boring as all hell.
@ VT #2: You've been kicking his ass too much. Let him win every now and again or he'll leave WeeWar altogether.

@Lucian - STFU! You're making no sense, go have another drink and then collapse in the corner in a heap, it'll all be better in the morning. Or maybe it is morning... hhmm. Bloody Aussies, why do they always have to be so many hours ahead.
06/11/2008 05:29:24 Re:Weewar teams: Post your team name and partner so people can challenge you
It's called Wiskey sense! You gotta get used to it... and I'm not too fond of corners. I prefer a big bed.
06/11/2008 09:47:03 Re:Weewar teams: Post your team name and partner so people can challenge you
Exactly, Lucian. Playing you makes me feel crappy, but playing VTT makes me feel like a 4 year old in his father's suit. It's not that I can tell which of you is better...Just something about his playstyle seems to own me harder and faster than anyone else I've played against. lol

I have the same issue with Rahl actually... quite annoying. It's like he's out to embarrass the crap out of me from the get go.
06/11/2008 11:15:41 Re:Weewar teams: Post your team name and partner so people can challenge you
@Po - havent we played like 4 or 5 games, and most of those were 6 player where I typically suck ass?
@Lucian - Logic has two parts. The rules for combining statements, and the premises upon
which you define your statements. The rules may be universal (ala mathematics) but the
foundations (premises and hypothesis) are not nearly so. Same thing with truth.
Easy example - Its 3 am. Henry the truck driver, after a 15 hour shift, slams his truck into a
car that was in his lane. Head on collision. Henry was driving in the right lanes of traffic.
In the USA Henry was driving in the right place. In the UK Henry was asleep at the wheel.
Another example - Is it acceptable for someone to marry more than one wife at the same time.
Another example - What should the punishment for adultery be? please consider both sexes
committing the offense, as well as why the reaction to the crime is different if a man or a woman
commits it. Or in some cultures why it isnt a crime at all.
Faith and emotion arent misguided in the slightest. They just cant be said to be based on logic or truth.
They can define truth, but only for themselves.
Holy crap that was a rambling diatribe. How about you slam my response and then we move to another topic.
this is getting too serious for a game site.

Example 1: If the it is standard practice within that particular society to drive on the side which Henry drove on then he was logically correct and the other driver was at fault. Logic in human cases has to adjust to society as societies aren't all that logical anyway. Ideally everyone would drive following the same set of standards.
Example 2: Short answer... no reason why not to. More appropriate answer, marriage itself is an institution brought on by religion and emotion, hence whilst it has certain logical reasoning behind it, it's not the most logical example to be using. To answer your question though, just think of animals and apply the same situation. From a survival standpoint it makes absolute sense.
Example 3: Exactly the same either way. If we're talking the most basic procreational logic then absolutely none. Throw in emotions and you throw everything out of whack. Even in that case though the logical thing would be to treat each case in the same fashion. If the couple agree to forgive and forget from the start then that's the most logical. If not then they split.
This all might sound harsh, but it's logic. It's life without emotion. Efficient, but boring and cruel. Oh and I said "Emotion and faith are the misguided logic in this scenario." They both have their uses in life, but like you said, they just don't follow universal logic or truth.
The truth is, that wiskey must be drank daily to keep your strong and healthy, so I suggest we do just that.

At least regarding the whiskey there is universal truth.

Love is not logical, but it is essential for the existence of humanity, as is social contact (without these forums we would be nothing!).
06/11/2008 15:20:20 Re:Weewar teams: Post your team name and partner so people can challenge you
Getting back to the original topic, there is now a new team:
Team name: Hackapelites
Player 1: Riipperi
Player 2: Juffe
Preferences: 2v2, 2v2v2, 1-day turns

I am always playing team games with many different players but if anyone wants to join with me that's cool

I do have to thank darkbee for by rating around 1900 I just have him go on the other team easy W

Very funny! I always knew you were a ratings whore!
And hey, we won convincingly the other day, I took Dom down like a pro!
