Hello Weewar Universe, I miss a personal in game message feature or kind of guestbook feature on player profiles.
Example: If i created a map and want one of my favored players to start it and invite me (because i dont want to play blue on my own maps all the time) its hard to communicate. What do you think? Cas |

| Happens to me all the time. We really need a PM system. | |

I definitely agree with this and believe it should be a priority feature. Even the typical forum PM system would suffice.
Talking in game is all good and well, but when the game finishes and you're getting ready for another (and delete the one you just finished due to space issues), you kind of lose communication and just have to guess blindly what map to play etc. I always forget about the community chat at those moments and I'm sure I'm not alone. |

i'm guessing the weewar guys will roll it out pretty soon. It has been in high demand for quite a while

| I never use the community chat like that. It's not that useful. Mostly it'ss used for reporting bugs, and looking for games. I'm not sure that the game requesters are even ever invited. | |

| Sounds good, there's no way right now to communicate through Weewar... | |

|
| Until the devs put it in, the WWPA has a messaging system. Obviously the WWPA is not for everyone, but this is just FYI. | |

| wouldn't a PM system also be prone to abuse? as long as there is no real teamplay in more than 4 player games (at the moment it's FFA), you could easily form alliances against other players in secret. i'm very sceptical about the need of such a system at this point... | |

| I throwing in my vote! | |
|
|

So what IS your vote then?
anyway, I also would appreciate the simple personal messaging system that is part of the standard phpbb forums. I would not mind coming to this forum to check for pms. This is important for team games, strategy proposals and even private general chats, map discussions etc. |

Oh so communicating through Weewar is the only possible way in the universe that Weewar players can talk to each other? What difference does it make if I can use Weewar to talk directly to other players or carrier pigeons? (other than being a lot faster and more convenient) The easiest way to avoid abuse of Weewar is to not play the game... ever. This message was edited 1 time. Last update was at 06/06/2008 12:57:07 |

please tell me how you contact other players right now (and planning some secret alliances) without other players getting notice. This message was edited 1 time. Last update was at 06/06/2008 13:30:17 |

People have websites, MySpace pages, community chat. You don't need to be part of the Secret Service to find out information on people. I'm not saying I do it, merely that it can be done. Tell me how someone can steal your identity and start a new life using your name and your credit card details, with your social security number? Where there's a will, there's a way. sorry, but that's bullshit and you know it. where are your arguments? as right of now there is no way you could secretly ally against others because there is no mail-system implemented and the user-profiles also don't contain any mail or IM adresses. the only channels you can communicate are public, be it through the site chat, ingame chat or even the forum. so don't tell me it's possible for 99.9% of the users to communicate secretly with each other by pidgeons, myspace or websites when they obviously CAN'T. If people are determined enough to undertake secret activities they will find a way. What do want 224bit encrypted secure satelite uplink? How secret does it have to be because everything you do on the Internet can be monitored, somebody somewhere knows your online activities. If I can get a message to somebody I'm playing a game with, external to that game, without you seeing it then wouldn't that be considered private? Do you sit there and monitor the community chat 24 hours a day? How does NOT having a private messaging system prevent me from talking to Weewar users outside of the Weewar site.
One of the developers is meeting some people in New York city for God's sake, IN PERSON.... how do you know that they aren't going to conspire to ally against you future games? You're completely missing the point. I agree that having a PM system will make it easier but, if somebody wants to do it that badly they will find a way, regardless of what exists already. I don't see how not having a private messaging system avoids that problem. Oh and if you want a concrete example, my Weewar profile contains my website address. If you go to my website you can find an email to contact me. I'm not the only one, there are plenty of others here whom I could contact externally of Weewar if I so choose.
