I spent a couple of hours coding a GreaseMonkey script that gives us comments for map pages.
Everyone using Firefox who installs GreaseMonkey: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748 and this script: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/38666 will see discussions on each map page. Give it a shot and tell me what you think! -Mattie P.S. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like when you're logged-in to Disqus:

Also as I stated in the other thread:
To the Weewar developers, integrating Disqus is super-easy and only requires changes to the HTML (no backend work at all). On the map page template you just add this where you want: If you want to be a moderator/admin of the comments, just tell me your Disqus username and it's all yours. -Mattie |

| I am an avid Disqus user myself! To use it on Weewar I'd like it to integrate with the regular accounts, though. Nice job! | |

| Does this script work on FF3? | |

Thanks for the kind words.
Yeah, I figured you would want to make it integrate with regular accounts, but I kind of also assumed you had your plate overfull with millions of other higher priority things. Weighing how beneficial this would be versus how likely you would find time to code it with user integration, I'd recommend Disqus as a reasonable alternative that gets you a lot of bang for the buck with only a loss of user integration. If your Weewar feature wishlist is long and map comments are really low on the priority list (i.e., you won't be able to add that kind of a feature until summer or fall), then please consider adding Disqus because it takes so little time and really only has that one drawback. I run a few different sites and this sort of benefit/cost analysis is something I have to wrestle with a lot, too. Anyway, thanks again for considering it! -Mattie This message was edited 2 times. Yep, that's what I use. You have to install GreaseMonkey first, though. -Mattie |

| This is fantastic Mattie! Nicely done. Agreed, would love to see this integrated into regular functionality, but this is a huge step forward. | |

Thanks for the kind words,
You can check out more comments you might be missing if you haven't tried out this script: http://weewarmaps.disqus.com/comments.rss -Mattie |

You can actually use this Greasemonkey script just fine with Google Chrome, too.
Basically follow these instructions: http://dev.chromium.org/developers/design-documents/user-scripts And then copy the following script into your chrome user directory: http://userscripts.org/scripts/source/38666.user.js For example, on my Vista machine, I put the file here: C:\Users\Mattie\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\User Scripts Please share your comments on maps-- there are also a number of great ones warning people about unbalanced maps, etc. -Mattie |
