which map? where we posting results?
05/03/2009 01:29:23 Re:Weewar Tournaments
If we're doing 1 vs 1 I'd suggest webwar2 bymercury. If we're doing 1 vs 1 vs 1 I'd suggest Chaos in Big Boys Playground bynjoy. It plays surprisingly well as a FFA 3 player map. Nothing yet on a perfectly matched fun 6 p map though. I'll need to look into that.

1v1 pls. i've already proven my ineptitude at multiplayer. plus if we're supposed to round-robin how're you going to do 1v1v1?
05/03/2009 02:04:24 Re:Weewar Tournaments
You can easily do a 1 vs 1 vs 1 round robin. It would just take a crapload of games.
05/03/2009 10:31:36 Re:Weewar Tournaments
round robin? is that what its called?
I am for 1 vs 1.
And I accept Lucians 1-1 map suggestion ... reluctantly.
I will not play the playground again though. Lucian, I like your style in most cases, but when it comes to maps, we live in different worlds.
Seems like I need to pro myself up after all.

are we running this 8 pl tourney via the web site or just on our own? same map all rounds? or 2 diff maps for round 2 and 3?
05/03/2009 12:29:20 Re:Weewar Tournaments
same maps for all games. We cant use the website cause as far as I know it only supports Battle Royale System, or knocouut system or whatever its called.
And within this context, what do you mean by rounds?
I suggest we play everyone against everyone else, which makes 7 games, then, if the the result is not clear then those with equal points battle again for their respective positions. Am I clear?
I will set up a list and all soon.
Small problem with my system: how do we decide which player gets blue?
Although looking at the map I think red has a strong first turn advantage, so I prefer to play red
05/03/2009 13:17:13 Re:Weewar Tournaments
@ Streen: That's cause you suck at multiplayer maps though.
What's wrong with Rahl's 1 vs 1 map though? It plays really well.
Anyway, Chaos is only ok as a six player map, but I think that it shines as a three player map. That's the only reason I suggested it. It makes the game a whole lot different and more enjoyable when it's played as a three player FFA map, which wasn't the original intention but rather a fluke find.
In any case, here's the draw. I simply took the list in this thread in order and matched everyone up. I started with the top left entry as blue and then alternated between the two. The next person down the list got the other color to the previous one they got. This way, everyone gets 3 of one and 4 of the other. The two sides are balanced as red starts with two extra units, but blue gets to push the artillery in position a turn earlier which does make up for that and keeps it fair. I've only played it once and Rahl has the edge as blue. Granted I had a little bad luck but overall the two do appear very balanced.
Now considering I'll need to invite a few of these I'd prefer to use my 'Naicul" account. This is an issue if you gents wanted to play rated as it wouldn't be fair towards you to play with my 1500 alt, however you all know me and I thought non-rated from the start. If you all want rated games, then it'll take me a few turns to clear out some of my Lucian games and I'll start inviting you as soon as I get space.

Round Robin style is great for me. I approve. Just tell me how to play when.
05/03/2009 13:45:46 Re:Weewar Tournaments
I approve as well.
Lucian, did you do that manually or did you write a perl script or something?
I ask cause I would rather script it
oh, btw: I would prefer rated, but I appreciate that this crowd prefers unrated, so I am fine with whatever.
It just puts a bad light on me if people spy me out and see that I am playing a 1500 ennemy

I did it manually. It took me all of 5 minutes. I'm very efficient with things like these. I've got my methods.
Especially if that 1500 enemy is whoopin your ass.

Look what my necro has inspired. I will accept payment in the form of styrofoam coffee cups.

Cool. Just go pick them up at your nearest McDonalds/Krispy Kreme. I left some there for you.

Styrafoam cups? You don't want Solo cups? I'd chip in for those.
@Streen - I seem to play better when it's unrated (go figure), but I'll take you on rated every time. I don't mind risking 5-8 points for getting 30 if (when) I taste the sweetness of victory.
