  • i'd really like to see it implemented in weewar, or a cross browser solution
  • well the cross browser solution is flash ;)
  • but i can't figure out a way, except for using another site to contain weewar in a frame and then using some cross site javascript
  • the problem is loading your stuff in the weewar window, there's no universal way to do that
  • greasemonkey injects your javascript into the current page locally, but i'm not sure there's a way to do that on all browsers
  • i need more research
  • no there isn't
  • what about Opera?
  • well you say that, but you can inject javascript typed into the title bar of IE, chrome and firefox, dunno about the rest
  • but it's not clean pasting in a super long one line javascript into the address bar after every page load
  • well you're talking about kludges and hacks, not a univerally implemented standard
  • so the only other way is to have a frameset and doing it in another page, or write a standalone app
  • which is a pity
  • make greasemonkey a w3c standard
  • and they've been implemented so consistently and generously :)
  • no but you can get by
  • it's getting better :)
  • i know javascript isn't the same in every browser but you can write code now that'll work in most of them without funny exceptions
  • i wrote some javascript that worked in chrome, firefox and IE and was shocked to find without change just worked on my nokia
  • this is true. I can remember when we were wasting 50% of dev time on entirely different implementations. The heady days of NN4 and IE4 ;)
  • i avoided javascript like the plague back then
  • but we weren't web2.0 back then so php and mysql was good enough interactivity
  • now people aren't happy unless a site has javascript 'Bling'
  • or webservices
  • *shrigs* jquery, move on ;)
  • never used it
  • you want js bling, it's what you need
  • no i don't think i do
  • i have webservices and bling and no jquery, so i must be missing something
  • oh wait that's probably it
  • i'm not using xml in my javascript
  • i do need to take a look at it though because everyone talking about it
  • no, it's not exclusive, but check it out if it's a requirement
  • practically can't get a sample where someone isn't using jquery these days
  • there's a great library...
  • but websites is my hobby, i spend most of my time looking at embedded code and librarys
  • saves your time for more important innovative stuff :)
  • yeah i know, i just like doing things myself
  • i feel like i learn more and when things break it's easier to fix them
  • ah..the curse and the strength of a natural developer :)
  • it's a curse for me at home, but a strengh at work
  • anyway all this code talk is probably scaring off the kids and gamers
  • Aye :) I'm boring myself actually :)
  • Nice chatting Mr D....
